Agatha Christie in Middle East
Agatha Christie's little-known involvement in mid 20th century archaeological excavations of Iraq has recently been reported on by the Associated Press.
Christie accompanied her second husband, archaeologist Max Mallowan, to the site of the ancient city of Nimrud in the 1950s. She would photograph the digs, help piece together fragments of artefacts, and clean off finds with her face cream to preserve their moisture levels.
She documents her time in the Middle East in the autobiographical Come Tell Me How You Live.
