Director Julian Jarrold wins for The Witness for the Prosecution
Julian Jarrold, the director behind last year's Agatha Christie adaptation The Witness for the Prosecution, took home the award for Director-Drama at last night's Royal Television Society Craft and Design Awards.
Jarrold directed the powerful two-part miniseries, which was described as “utterly watchable throughout” by The Guardian. The RTS Craft & Design Awards recognise the huge variety of skills and processes involved in programme production.
Based on Agatha Christie’s 1925 short story of the same title, Sarah Phelps (And Then There Were None, Casual Vacancy) wrote the screenplay, and Colin Wratten (The Musketeers, One of Us) produced the programme, which first aired on BBC One in December 2016. The stellar cast includes Kim Cattrall, Toby Jones, Andrea Riseborough, Billy Howle, Monica Dolan, David Haig and Hayley Carmichael.
